Examination Reports - Financial

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI), Division of Financial Regulation, conducts approximately 50 financial examinations each year. Examinations are performed on insurance companies d​omiciled in the state of Wisconsin and state law requires OCI to perform financial examinations on Wisconsin domiciled insurance companies at least once every five years.

Financial examinations assess the company’s financial condition as of a particular date, usually December 31, to determine whether it meets the financial requirements to continue doing business in the state. In addition, the examiners review prospective risks that could impact a company’s solvency position and compliance with many of the insurance laws applicable to financial regulation. Examinations that focus on the business practices of insurers and producers are performed by the Division of Market Regulation and Enforcement and can be found at market conduct examinations.
