Subject: Filing of the Actuarial Opinion Summary


​This office has completed a change in s. Ins 50.30, Wis. Adm. Code, which will be published in January 2006. The revised rule will require property and casualty insurers filing the yellow annual statement blank to prepare a document titled, Actuarial Opinion Summary (AOS). The revised regulation will apply to annual statements filed for 2005. The specific requirements for preparing the AOS are included in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Annual Statement Instructions. Wisconsin-domiciled property and casualty insurers are required to file the AOS with this office by March 15. This office will keep the information in the AOS confidential as specified in the regulation. To help ensure that it is kept confidential, the AOS should be submitted in a separate envelope clearly marked "Actuarial Opinion Summary - Confidential," and sent to:

Companies licensed but not domiciled in Wisconsin would not be required to file the AOS unless this office requests one.
