Commissioner Nickel Reminds Consumers About Retirement Planning

April 3-7 is National Retirement Planning Week®

Madison, WI—Insurance Commissioner Ted Nickel reminds Wisconsin consumers about the importance of planning for retirement.

"Ensure your future is financially secure by taking time now to plan for your retirement," said Commissioner Nickel. "Consider insurance and financial professionals who can help you through the process and explore other resources to jump start your planning. This is the most important step you can take towards your retirement."

The Office of Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) has a number of helpful resources available for consumers including:

  • Several consumer publications on annuities and life insurance contracts including Understanding Annuities, a helpful consumer guide that explains annuity contracts.
  • An agent look​-up feature that will allow you to find licensed insurance agents who sell insurance products.
  • Additional consumer publications for retirees that may help with issues like Medicare and long-term care.
