Information on the Proposed Acquisition of Control of Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation (PPIC) by Iowa Health System d/b/a UnityPoint Health (Applicant)
On November 1, 2013, Iowa Health System (d/b/a UnityPoint Health) (Applicant), an Iowa nonprofit corporation, filed a plan to acquire control of Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation (PPIC), pursuant to the terms of an Affiliation Agreement dated October 10, 2013, between UnityPoint Health and Meriter Health Services, Inc. (Meriter). Pursuant to the Affiliation Agreement, the Applicant intends to become the sole corporate Member of Meriter, PPIC's parent company. The transaction is subject to all required regulatory approvals, including the approval of this Form A by the Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Wisconsin (the Commissioner).
As required by law, the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance will hold a public hearing concerning this application for acquisition of control.
