Deputy Insurance Commissioner Appointed

Madison, WI—Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner Sean Dilweg today announced the appointment of Kimberly Shaul as the new Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI). Ms. Shaul is an attorney and has extensive experience in the insurance industry.

In announcing the appointment, Commissioner Dilweg said, "Kimberly is well qualified for her new role as Deputy Commissioner given her legal background, work experience in multiple insurance lines, and leadership roles in both compliance and operational functions. She welcomes this opportunity to serve and is committed to keeping the Wisconsin insurance market healthy, productive and competitive."

Ms. Shaul thanked Commissioner Dilweg for the opportunity and said, "The Wisconsin Insurance Department enjoys a reputation among both its peers and the insurance industry as an effective regulator and I am pleased to be joining this agency."

Ms. Shaul began her 16 year tenure at American Family as a litigation attorney for the Property and Casualty Claims Division. She then held positions as Assistant General Counsel, Life/Health Compliance Director before her current role as Claims Director. Prior to American Family, Ms. Shaul worked in a private law firm and also served as a messenger for the Wisconsin State Assembly. She will be starting at OCI on April 3rd.

Created by the Legislature in 1871, Wisconsin's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance was vested with broad powers to ensure that the insurance industry responsibly and adequately met the insurance needs of Wisconsin citizens. Today, OCI's mission is to lead the way in informing and protecting the public and responding to its insurance needs.
